I dropped by the Speed Image to buy some colder plugs for my 99 civic ex today. He gave me the NGK BCPR7ES-11 plugs. These are 2 steps colder than the stock ZFR5F-11 plugs. The guy said that is what they used in their turbo civics. Are these the right plugs for my sc'ed civic?

Those are the type of plugs that the integra guys use. I suppose it wouldn't hurt to use them. I'm using ZFR6F-11's but others have used ZFR7F-11's which are similar to the BCPR7ES-11's. Go check out NGK's website for some pretty interesting tech reading. http://www.ngksparkplugs.com

Isn't a heat range of 7 a little too much? The NGK website says one step colder for every 75-100 hp added. What would happen if the cold turns out to bee too cold?

Stealthex: I wonder about the same. I went from a ZFR5F-11 to a ZFR6F-11 with no noticable change in knock. If your plug is too cold, it fouls (doesn't get hot enough to consistantly clean itself).

Well I finally put the plugs in. I gapped them at .035. Is this was it should be gapped at? What is the plug made of anyway? I don't really know much about plugs and the only ones I have seen are dirty ones. Are these copper or platinum? Thanks for the replies.

as manual recommed to use .044 gap. Is there any difference by using .035?

My helms manual says that stock plugs should be gapped .039-.043. I forgot who it was from searching but another civic owner did .035 so I did it too. Just to be on the safe side. I thought that plugs were supposed to be gapped a little closer when boosted with stock ignition? I don't think there is a difference because my stock plugs were never regapped. Should open it up a little? What are the benefits? So nobody knows if these are copper, platinum, or whatever?

bcp's? i had the 7's and i thought they were for the civics. i have the zfr7's now. mine are gapped at .35, most people misfire with a bigger gap so .35 is pretty universal for turbo integras. not sure what is right for an sc civic
